… Okays Wada As Governor-Elect Of Kogi
SAN FRANCISCO, January 30, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled dates for the governorship elections in four of five states where the Supreme Court sacked their respective governors last week.
The electoral commission said it will not conduct a fresh election in Kogi State, where Captain Idris Wada emerged Governor-Elect in an election conducted in December 2011. The commission affirmed Wada as the Governor-Elect of the State.
“The commission, having carefully studied the judgment and after due consultation with its legal team, has decided as follows -- that the Kogi Governorship Election which took place on December 3, 2011, is a concluded election and therefore, the governor-elect should be sworn in immediately,” INEC Chairman Attahiru Jega stated.
The schedules for the elections in the four states are as follows:
Adamawa: February 04, 2012.
Bayelsa: February 11, 2012.
Cross River: February 25, 2012 and
Sokoto: February 18, 2012.
