Widow Of Tony Ehahoro, Helen Passes; GEJ Condoles Family

SAN FRANCISCO, January 29, (THEWILL) – The widow of a late foremost nationalist and politician, Chief Mrs. Helen Enahoro (nee Ediae), has passed on to glory at the age of 79.

Reports say she died on Saturday in Benin City, after a protracted battle with a yet to be disclosed ailment.

Helen was married to the late Chief Anthony Enahoro, the politician credited with moving the motion for Nigeria’s independence from the Great Britain. He died in December 2010.

In a condolence message on Sunday, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan expressed sadness on hearing the news of her demise.

“The President expresses heartfelt condolences to the Enahoro Family of Uromi, Edo State, on behalf of himself, his family and the Government and people of Nigeria, and prays that God grants them comfort and the fortitude to bear this great loss,” the statement by the President’s Spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati stated.
