A Police Constable identified as Muktari Bello was killed when the sect attempted to attack a police station in the city.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Idris said the gunmen met stiff resistance as they were confronted with superior fire power exhibited by his men.

“When we got wind of the attack at Mandawari in the ancient city, we immediately mobilized and in the attack, we lost an officer, a constable.”

He said Police have strengthened security in and around the state to guarantee the security of law abiding residents of the state.

Anxiety has been high since Boko Haram gained entry into Kano and unleashed terror on the state leaving as many as 200 people dead.

The renewed attacks in the city have left businesses closed with very few vehicles on the streets.
