German National kidnapped In Kano
KANO, January 26, (THEWILL) – The Kano State Police Command Thursday said a German national working in the state has been abducted by unknown gunmen.
His abduction is coming just a few days after the Boko Haram struck in the city leaving behind dead bodies and dozens of IEDs.
Engineer Raupach Edgar, works with a Kano based construction firm Dantata and Sawoe, and was abducted in the early hours of Thursday by gun men, suspected to be kidnappers.
Eye witness said the foreigner was kidnapped at a construction site along Kano Zaria road about 25 kilometers to the State Capital.
Dantata and Sawoe is one o f the construction companies handling major construction works on the busy Kano-Zaria road.
It was learnt that, Edgar at the time of the kidnap, was inspecting a bridge on the road that is currently under construction.
Two gun men, source told THEWILL, emerge from an Opel Vectra car and immediately abducted him, and they allegedly hand-cuffed and bundled him inside the booth of the car before zooming off towards Zaria.
THEWILL also gathered that no contact has been established with either the victim or the kidnappers, as police said they are working towards obtaining a clue that will lead them to the abductors.
Public Relation’s Officer of the Kano State police command, Musa Magaji Majiya (ASP) confirmed the incident to our correspondent, adding that, police have spread their drag net to track down the suspects.
“We have mounted road blocks on suspected escape routes and all Police Divisions and outpost have been communicated,” he said. He however emphasized that no link has been established with group.
