PETROLEUM MINISTER, MRS DIEZANI ALISON-MADUEKE.

SAN FRANCISCO, January 15, (THEWILL) - The Minister of Petroleum Resources has written a letter to the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Lamorde, inviting him to begin forensic investigations into the subsidy payments, THEWILL can exclusively report.

A Presidency source familiar with the development in Abuja told THEWILL that the Minister insisted on the probe following the attention subsidy payments has received lately, having become one of the issues raised in various negotiations with labour leaders and stakeholders. “There were several questions on accountability at the negotiations,” the source said.

Several groups have claimed that subsidy payments were fraudulently inflated with proceeds shared amongst marketers and corrupt officials.

A Senate committee recently listed companies that have received subsidy payments and contracts to import fuel.

Oando, MRS Oil, Conoil, Folawiyo Oil, Eterna Oil, and many others received huge payments.
