"By virtue of Section 2(3) of the EFCC Act which confers upon the President the powers to appoint the Chairman and Members of the Commission, other than Ex-officio Members, subject to confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I hereby request the Senate to kindly consider and confirm the appointment of Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde as chairman."

Lamorde had also served as Acting Chairman of the EFCC in December 2007, following the sack of pioneer Chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
