Update: One Killed, Over 18 Wounded In Kano Fuel Increase Protests
KANO, January 09, (THEWILL) – Reports from our correspondent in Kano say the fuel hike protests has turned violent with 18 persons wounded including four (4) persons who were hit by stray bullets from anti-riot policemen when protesters clashed with security operatives near Government House Kano. A 15 year-old was also killed by a stray bullet.
One police patrol vehicle was set on fire following the shooting while a part of the fence around the property was felled by protesters.
THEWILL’s Ibrahim Habu reports that there have been sporadic gunshots from the police to disperse protesters and the skyline above Kano is filled with smoke from fires set by protesters.
