There has been apprehension over the reason why the Inspector of General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim, at the eve of the postponed April 2 National Election, reassigned all the 36 State Police Commissioners with exception of the one serving in Akwa Ibom State. The allegation that Hafiz Ringim may have received a mouth-watering N500million from Governor Akpabio to post Police Commissioner Felix Uyanna to Akwa Ibom at the eve of the attack launched on the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) gubernatorial candidate when he went to the forbidden Annang land for campaign and leaving him untouched in the 36 Commissioners’ reassignment are now turning suspects.

There was no good reason why Iyanna was left in Akwa Ibom other than to help the governor in perceived cooperation during the elections. Substatntiating this belief, one noted that the former Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom, Sani Mogaji, who Felix Uyanna replaced on the same day resumed in Ondo State; yet Sani Mogaji was not spared in the Ringim’s mass and general reassignment as he was posted out of the new station (Ondo state) to Benue state. Had Mogaji not so shifted from Ondo to Benue, no one would have been justified complaining of the Iyanna who was not touched. Iyanna’s exclusion from the mass transfer could not because of the on-going arson case in Akwa Ibom since it has nothing to do with Uyanna as a person, any new Commissioner could carry on with the case, unless for any cover-up as it is now being alleged that the arson was perpetrated by PDP supporters who were readily positioned.

Moreover facts are being alleged that Mr. Iyanna is a relation of governor Akpabio’s wife. Also Governor Akpabio had scheduled to distribute the burnt vehicles first week of March to bolster his electoral chances but why the sudden change of mind if not to allow the arson so as to heap the blame on the opposition? One wonders when Nigerian politicians would learn to play neat.

Finally, Inspector General of Police must declare to the masses what his part was in this whole episode otherwise it would be assumed that he compromised to rig election.
