Sir,

OBASANJO THREATENS TO QUIT PDP?

As reported in the media on Thursday 6, 2011, Obasanjo threatened to quit the PDP if the national working committee of his party fails to address the ‘drifts’ that he noticed in the South-West zone of the Party; which in any case he was a major factor to the drifts. Many party stalwarts chorused that it would be, just as in the case of Saraki, ‘riddance of bad rubbish’, if Obasanjo lives up to his threat.

Daily Trust page 5 of January 7, 2011 revealed that what actually took Obasanjo to Wadada House, Abuja headquarters of PDP, was to see how to rescue his daughter Senator seeking second term, which Governor Daniel stoutly rejects. Obasanjo complained that PDP made governors very arrogantly powerful but the PDP Organizing Secretary, Uche Secondus, reminded Obasanjo that he (Obasanjo) was the one that created the monstrous governors. The angry Obasanjo in his characteristics as transpired between him and Fayose, asked Secondus, “What is that your name?” The meeting ended with the party not assuring Obasanjo of its support as regards his daughter.

It will be recalled also that Obasanjo tricked the AC governors of the south-west into believing that they would retain their States if they supported him during the 2003 presidential election; they fell for it and got bruised in the process and now wiser, the ACN wants to regain those States.

One thing for sure: Obasanjo’s tenure brought more hardship and confusion to the people of the south-west zone, in particular. One could see in Obasanjo a man who could not manage his personal home. Ogun State PDP government is the only government in the federation that has no functional House of Assembly; it is the most disunited and confused, yet that is where a President that ruled the nation ‘democratically’ for eight years came from and he is the cause of the situation there.
Obasanjo’s name is synonymous with bad omen; therefore, the people of the south-west PDP and majority of politicians of the zone would be relieved should Obasanjo leave PDP and quit politics.
