STATE VISITS: MEASURING JONTHAN’S LOVE FOR S’EAST

For those Igbo persons, including half-Igbo Uwechue and his Ohaneze Ndigbo, who is helping to deceive their fellow Igbos; they should know that people can be fooled some of the times but cannot be fooled all the time.

Jonathan has had working official visits to Akwa Ibom, Oyo, Plateau, Anambra, Imo, etc and recently, Bayelsa. Except for Imo and Anambra which he shrunk respectively to half-a-day visit each; the rest were two or three-day.

On a day preceding his Anambra/Imo visit, I drove from Awka to Owerri airport for a flight to Lagos. At the airport I noticed some decorations going there. Inquiring, I was told the President would visit Imo State the next day. I dismissed that and assumed since Owerri is the nearest airport for President’s use en-route Awka, the airport was being decorated by sycophants, as usual. In Awka, I noticed towing of people’s cars ‘illegally’ parked along the only major road (Zik’s Avenue) in the State capital, Awka.
I was wrong; it happened the President Jonathan visited the two States in one day. What an insult to the people of the zone. Few days later he made a three-day visit to his tiny home State, Bayelsa.  He has just done another two-day to Ogun State; his second to that State within two months.

This is to show how ‘deeply’ President ‘Azikiwe’ Jonathan loves the south-east. When it soothes him, he adds name (Azikiwe). Have you heard that someone woke up one day and started bearing Awolowo? No! Names like Azikiwe and Awolowo are supposed not to be abused. Come to think of it; throughout Jonathan’s stay as deputy governor of Baylesa through to when he became the Vice President of Nigeria, never a time did he bear ‘Azikiwe’. Even his portraits that adorn most offices and public places in Nigeria (now) as the substantive president, name Azikiwe is conspicuously missing. To any foolish Igbo person supporting Jonathan-2011; if he is allowed to use the name, let it be known that he has eminently usurped the Igbo turn. Why then hope for 20115 thereafter him?

Obidigbo Mgbachi, 59 Market Road, Ekwulobia, Anambra State.
