AFTERMATH OF 2007 ELECTIONS: FOUR DOWN FROM PDP
Dear Sir
AFTERMATH OF 2007 ELECTIONS: FOUR DOWN FROM PDP
There is no other evidence to prove that the 2007 general elections were rigged for the PDP; the reverses in the gubernatorial declarations in Edo, Ondo, Ekiti and Delta States testify. Osun and Sokoto States are likely to go the same way. There had been other upturns whose re-run (still) were rigged for PDP – Cross River, Kogi, and Bayelsa. Like in Akwa Ibom, there were yet other States which the ‘judiciary’ were used for the PDP in 2007. Yet there are States (Imo, Bauchi, Kebbi, Zamfara, Abia), which PDP stole through the backdoor; the governors decamped after winning under other parties. From any angle you look at the situation with the 2007 elections, INEC and the judiciary helped in granting PDP most States it presently controls. The PDP is presently engrossed in so many undemocratic and internal wrangling (from federal to States and Local Government levels) as this would affect their electoral fortunes in a well conducted 2011 elections. This has been looming and it is a matter of time and the realities would be. The greatest beneficiary of the present upturns has remained the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and the party is looking good in the forthcoming 2011 in many States including Akwa Ibom, Ogun, Oyo and have probably be also for Delta which providence has removed from the scheduled 2011 gubernatorial election. ACN’s Ngige is believed to have won the Anambra 2010 gubernatorial election and the judiciary is still on the matter. In Delta re-run, Edwin Clark’s supporters are very likely for Great Ogboru who may be boxed into declaring for the PDP after the election. Uduaghan would not be favoured in the re-run because that would give him a second term through the backdoor. Moreover he has questions to answer in the part he played in his cousin’s (Ibori’s) looting of the State which has been proven by Ibori’s wife and the London Metropolitan prosecutors. Nevertheless, from whichever angle you look at it, the Delta re-run remains a peculiar case as it has thrown out a prospected ACN win, should the 2011 election remained as scheduled. Chief Fredrick Efosa, Ikpoba Slope, Benin City, Edo State.
Another case that stood out in the 2007 was the massively rigged Anambra for PDP’s Andy Uba but for the continuation verdict in favour of Peter Obi.
