SAMUEL PETER: WHY PICK THAT CALL FROM GOV AKPABIO?

One Itoro Akpabio had through the media advised the former heavy weight boxing champion, Samuel Peters, not to contact or allow Governor Godswill Akpabio by the ringside if he must win his fight against Wladimir Klitschko. But National Life newspaper of Saturday September 11, 2010 reported that Peter had a telephone conversation with the governor prior to the fight. Samuel did not know that perceived bad luck could be transmitted through any means.

Media account of the fight his Wladimir revealed that Peter kissed the canvas at the 10th round of their scheduled 12 round fight that took place in Frankfurt, Germany night of September 11, 2010. He was again beaten to a stupor by another family member of the Klitschko.

Many allegations are now being mentioned that Don King (the boxing promoter) and the Judges including Maskev Oleg who fought Samuel Peter were compromised by Governor Akpabio and that gave rise to Samuel Peter winning the belt at the 2008 fight. This much was somehow revealed when Don King confessed in the media that Samuel Peter would have won the 2009 fight where Vitali Klitschko beat him to a stupor had Governor Akpabio intervened like he did in Oleg/Peter fight of 2008.

It would be recalled that Governor Akpabio boasted that Peter won Oleg and dedicated the belt to him (Akpabio) because he was governing Akwa Ibom well? Could it then mean that he is no more governing well hence Peter continued to lose in subsequent championship fights or was it Akpabio’s perceived bad luck as highlighted by one of The Punch newspaper’s columnist Oduwole or could it be that God is still angry that His glory was taken by duo of Peter and Akpabio?

Governor Akpabio is constructing the Ibom Tropicana Entertainment Centre to include a 10,000-seater Dome and was aimed to host Peter’s immediate past fight had the construction concluded as promised in March 2010. He again put October completion date. October is this month and hopefully it would give Peter another opportunity for a re-match. Governor Akpabio is also advised not to be making unguarded statements or statements that could give in a bad luck.
