SAMUEL Vs WLADIMIR FIGHT: AKPABIO SHOULD STAY OFF RING SIDE

One should discountenance the constant use of "God" associated with Akwa Ibom Governor Godswill Akpabio whenever he tries to talk in the electronic or print media. Some sincere columnists have admonished the governor to stop blaspheming God. At one time he said that traditional rulers in his State are the only God’s representatives on earth; anyway that statement from him was during solicitation of second term endorsement from the traditional rulers.

During an encounter that Samuel Peter had with the elder brother of Wladimir Klitschko (Vitali Klitschko), he was beaten to stupor via a technical knockout in a fight that the referee had to intervene to save Samuel from being killed; at least that gave him the opportunity to be alive today to face the younger brother of his demolisher, come September 11, 2010 in far away Germany. Peter had won the belt initially after the person in line at a time, Alexander Povetkin, declined to fight. Peter went on to fight Oleg Maskaev in 2008 and won in technical knockout. Governor Godswill Akpabio was at the ring side then to give Peter ‘moral’ support. At the end of the show, Samuel Peter took God’s glory by dedicating the belt to Godswill Akpabio and not God. Akpabio on his part boasted that Peter won and dedicated the belt to him because he (Akpabio) was governing Akwa Ibom well.

As if God was waiting to show the duo that they have taken His glory, with Akpabio still by the ring side in support of Samuel Peter, Vitali Klitschoko beat him to stupor. It is hoped that Peter has learnt his lessons and would ask Akpabio not to be by the right side come September 2011 and that after he might have won the belt back, he must give God the glory and not to Akpabio again this time.
