Dear Editor,

NWACHUKWU CHAIRMANSHIP: PDP IS FINISHED!

PDP should regard itself as a finished Party should someone like Senator Ike Nwachukwu is made its national Chairman. It will just be jumping from fry-pan to fire. I am not speaking on behalf of any other particular contender for the position of PDP chairman, but it is on record that if the PDP doubts what I am saying, it should try making Nwachukwu its Chairman.

One does not seem to understand if PDP actually was to break from its bad past otherwise it should have occurred to it that even the Elders (Reconciliatory) Committee set up by the it, which Ike Nwachukwu is the leader, instead of achieving the desired aim, was accused of double-standard in many of the PDP State chapters they went to reconcile the warring parties. This has left those State chapters worse than they were before the Committee’s intervention.

The Committee is also being accused of corruption and compromised in handling of matters and this has led the Oyo and one or two other State PDP chapters to go to court against it. In Akwa Ibom one Hon (Chief) Effiong Ononokpono had revealed through a paid advertisement that appeared in The Nation newspaper of 25th March, 2010 that the Committee was compromised hence its members conducted abracadabra reconciliation in that State. The Committee which boasts of people like the fugitive James Ibori who is facing corruption charges both in Nigeria and UK should rather be disbanded by the PDP, if one may advise.

Authorities and organizations should always investigate those to be placed in position of trusts. PDP can do with any other candidate in this case.

Mr. Nwadi Okoro, Wetheral Road, Owerri, Imo State.
