THE LIKES OF MAKARFI SUITED FOR VICE-PRESIDENT

If Jonathan knows how to sincerely face the issue of the Vice Presidential candidate to his presidency, he should not continue allowing himself to be confused by the intimidating long list of prospective contenders for the position.

Senator Ahmed Makarfi who served as governor of Kaduna between 1999 and 2007 acquitted himself creditably and that gave him the ticket to the Senate. He stood out among the listed because he is a detribalized northerner who hinges his believe on truth. I remember vividly when at the confusion which was set by Obasanjo concerning who should be president. Senator Markafi was that only serious northerner who pleaded that for equity and fairness, there was nothing wrong with a south-southerner becoming the president of the Nigeria. He said that he was ready to serve as a vice president to such a person as a demonstration of his sincerity.

The likes of Governor Goje should not be allowed to get nearer the position because he would definitely push to be the next President and the north is not ready to field those who consider themselves sub-standard to file out to represent the north. Some like Makarfi, Governor Aliyu Babangida and Lt Gen Aliyu Mohammed Guasau are the best among the candidates parading for the position.
