VICE-PRESIDENT: CAN GOVERNORS INFLUENCE STILL BE?

It is high time President Jonathan detached himself from the PDP governors while trying to make decisions.  Out of fear probably, in the past he succumbed to the wishes of the governors. This was evident and has led to the present bad situation in PDP. It was the intervention of the governors that Ogbulafor who is known openly to have defrauded the nation through corruptions, to still remain a high party official. The stigma which Jonathan has now placed on PDP, by this action seems to portray PDP as a party full of corrupt persons. He has sworn to fight corruption? Could he be pretending?

Again during the consideration for the new EXCOF members, Jonathan tilted to the wishes of his wife and most PDP governors. He should learn from Yar’Adua’s presidency what a wife’s bad influence could have on a President.

The media has been awash with the names of Yayale, the SGF, and NSA Aliyu Mohammed as possible worthy nominee for the position of Vice-President. The governors at it again; want one of theirs to be. Soon they would pass pressure on Her Excellency Patience Jonathan in order to get the President’s ears. Out of the governors touted, the only one would think worthy is the Niger State governor, Aliyu Babangida, and no other one.

The president should not toy with the good governance expected of him. He should stand his grounds and not nominate wrong person for the position; so also he should ensure his Special Advisers are mature and experienced persons.  He should be his own man, after all he is supposed to be leading the nation and not any parochial interest or his own party or select governors.
