Dear Editor,

FARIDA WAZIRI AND FEAR OF NUHU RIBADU

In recent media reports the EFCC Waziri said that she would not take instructions from former EFCC Ribadu should he come back to boss her on the heel that the President might appoint him to a position that would oversee the anti-graft agencies.

Waziri was quoted to have said that Ribadu is her junior both in age and position in the Police Force and therefore she sees no way she would accept to take instructions from her junior. One hastens to say that Waziri was wrong in her judgment and the only option that would be left to her should Jonathan appoint Ribadu as speculated, is to resign from EFCC. How could she advance such nonsensical reasons? If appointments or reporting line is based on age or attainment in society or office, many people including the rich and retired General T.Y. Danjuma would not be reporting to younger Jonathan who is the president. On the statement that she was senior to Ribadu in the Police Force could also be faulted. She is a retired Police Officer, so also is Ribadu who the IGP has gotten matching order to restore his rank of AIG in retirement, just as Farida, therefore any appointment that any of the two would be occupying, is political and not of Police command.

In all, one foresees panic in the camp of Waziri regarding the possible return of Ribadu. She should not push her luck too far and much but try to shed off some hanging matters which she knows about and has continued to sweep under the carpets. Her selective prosecution in supposed corrupt war would no longer hold court.
