PDP AND ITS CROCODILE TEARS

The statement credited to Mr. Segun Oni accusing the opposition of master-minding the kidnapping and the subsequent death of the Attah of Ayede and the Acting Provost of Ekiti State College of Education, is reckless and an exhibition of executive disorientation.

Mr. Segun Oni who had presided over a tenure that witnessed the most bizarre killing of Ekiti prominent citizens burst into crocodile tears before traditional rulers who lost one of them to the killer squad of Ekiti PDP.

Before now, we have sent several save-our-soul calls to the security agencies, both in Ekiti and Abuja that Ekiti PDP and its government are keeping a killer squad which is desirous in exterminating the opposition.

Since 2007, when Mr. Segun Oni assumed government in Ekiti, lives of our members and leaders had been unsafe. Chief Jide Awe and his deputy, Chief Dele Falusi narrowly missed being killed by PDP thugs who later ran into the official residence of the state governor when a mob pursued him. The case was swept under the carpet.

Hon. Adeoti Saliu, Ekiti Assembly Deputy Speaker was pursued into hiding several times by self confessed PDP hired killers, while other AC honourable members like David Taiwo, Niyi Afuye and Abiola Olowokere were visited and missed by Ekiti PDP death hawkers.

On several instances, we had petitioned the SSS and the police with facts on the nefarious activities of these PDP thugs and killers. The recent threats and physical assault meted on AC members and Dr Kayode Fayemi personal aides at the precinct of the Election Petition Tribunal were fresh instances of the presence of PDP’s killer squad in Ekiti.

It was on record that Late Kehinde Fasubaa was killed after attending a meeting where he declared his intention to contest against a top notcher of Oni’s government in the 2011 senatorial election.

It was also members of their killer squad that were arrested at Igbara-Odo with lethal weapons claiming to be bat hunters while another group of PDP killers was apprehended at Esa-Oke junction with weapons, claiming to be on their way to Ibadan to buy tyres.

We want to remind Mr. Segun Oni that the Late Attah of Ayede was not known in PDP government circle to be a friend; hence it is the PDP that should look inward and fish out his killer(s) from their fold.

We want to remind Mr. Oni and his fellow deluded party members that our party is a peace loving mass movement which has managed its internal and external activities without any record of violence as opposed to PDP which often resort to violence to settle minor intra-party disagreement.

We called on security agents to do a thorough and open investigation on the upsurge in crime wave in Ekiti. We implored them not allow politics to be used to derail their investigation as all those involved in criminal activities in the state must be made to face the wrath of law.

Chief Jide Awe, Chairman, AC Ekiti State.
