FRAUD IN THE NIGERIAN CUSTOMS

I write with great displeasure over the about to happen fraud in the Nigerian Customs Service.
According to the Federal Civil Service rule, Officers are due for promotion after wearing a rank for 4years.

This has been the practice of the service even though at times it doesn't go that way.

The service has never experienced an open bid way of promotion. In February 2012, the service will conduct its next promotion which should automatically see some officers get promoted to the next rank as some are due for promotion. The new thing is paying N20-N30million naira to the Comptroller General and getting promoted automatically. Is this what we should practice as a Country while curbing corruption?

We are slowly getting tired of having to pay our way through everything. Something should be done to curb this practice which happens in the Civil Service. In the Immigration Service for instance Comptrollers balance on an average, 5million naira weekly to Mrs. Rose Uzoma to get posted to lucrative places. What is this Country turning into?

Why is Nigeria this way? Please the Federal Government or EFCC needs to do something
to kill these practices before it consumes us all. Everything is not about the money. We should learn to do things by merit.
