Moving the motion for the confidence vote, Hon. Mohammed Sirajo Wakil, representing Gashau central constituency, said: “With the rumours going round in some quarters that members of the Yobe State House of Assembly allegedly intend to impeach our governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam. I move a motion for a vote of confidence on our governor that has been transparent and accountable to the people, including this Honourable House that has been working cordially and effectively with the executive arm of government in the deliveries of dividends of democracy.”

Wakil’s motion was supported by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Awalu Bello Danchuwa, representing Potiskum II constituency, who said the governor and members of the Assembly are partners in progress.

“The people and entire members of this honourable house are always with the governor in the deliveries of dividends of democracy and good governance,” he said.

In his contribution, Hon. Adamu Usman, representing Tarmuwa constituency said: “We are in All Progressives Party (APC) and will continue to be in APC in passing this vote of confidence on our governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam. I urged all Yobeans to disregard this rumour of impeachment of the governor by this honourable house, by passing a vote of confidence on the governor.”

According to him, “We are supporting and will continue to support our governor on the works he has been doing to improve the living conditions of the people; and despite the security challenges that have already gulped over N7 billion.

“We are 100 per cent behind our governor, because money cannot buy us to betray or impeach the Executive Governor of Yobe state. We don’t have any reason or intention to impeach our governor, as APC is a progressive party on which he is going to contest the governorship election in 2015.

“Therefore, with this vote of confidence being passed on our governor, we should dismiss or ignore the rumours of impeachment. We are solidly behind our governor, as none of us in this house plans to defect from APC to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
