UNIMAID Holds Matriculation For 6,250 New Students

SAN FRANCISCO, November 26, (THEWILL) – The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) Wednesday formally welcomed about 6,250 new students to the institution.

The newly-admitted students to the school’s degrees programmes were welcomed at the matriculation ceremony presided over by the Vice – Chancellor, Prof Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, at the school’s convocation square.

Out of the 6,250 new students, the Faculty of Education has the highest number with 1,650 matriculating students; followed by Faculty of Science with 1,050 students; Faculty of Social Science with 775 students; Faculty of Management Science with 689 while Faculty of Engineering has 582.

Others include Faculty of Arts with 410 students; Faculty of Agriculture 395; College of Medical Science 340; Faculty of Law, 201; Faculty of Pharmacy 90 ; and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine 68 students.

At the ceremony, a matriculation oath was administered on the newly-admitted students by the Registrar , Mallam Babagana M. Aji.

In his address at the occasion, the Vice – Chancellor urged the new students to familiarise themselves with the rules and regulations of the university and comply with them.

Maintaining that the oath they took is an assurance that they have come to the University to pursue learning and knowledge diligently and be of good behavior, Njodi warned them not to get involved in cultism, drug abuse , violent demonstration and other anti-social behaviours .

The vice chancellor also warned that no misconduct will be tolerated by the school , saying the school is only interested in turning them into useful citizens and worthy ambassador of the institution.
