BEVERLY HILLS, July 03, (THEWILL) – There appears to be no end to the renewed attacks of Boko Haram insurgents on soft targets in the North East.

On Thursday, two female suicide bombers, in two separate attacks, struck at Malari village and Allau Dam road along Bama/Konduga Highway, Borno State, killing no fewer than 11 persons and injuring several others.

The Borno state police commissioner, Mr. Aderemi Opadokun, who confirmed the attacks, said 11 persons were killed and 21 others injured.
According to Opadokun,”There was an explosion at Malari village along Bama/Konduga Highway on 2/7/15 (Thursday) at about 1400 hours.

“A female suicide bomber detonated IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) strapped to her body, killing herself and 7 others.”

Opadokun explained that 13 persons were injured in the first attack while the second attack along the Allau Dam road on Bama/Konduga Highway by a female suicide bomber also “killed three other persons including the bomber.”

The Police Commissioner, who disclosed that “corpses and injured victims have been evacuated to UMTH (University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital),” said the insurgents also attacked Kukawa, a community near the Lake Chad area on Wednesday “at about 1900hrs.”

Opadokun said the attack led to the ” killing of many and burning of many houses, ” adding ” eight people are receiving treatment at UMTH.”

His confirmation came as a security operative, who craved anonymity, said the two female bombers targeted busy areas along the highway where local residents sell fruits.

“Eight people including the Boko Haram bomber died in the first explosion,” the security operative said, adding that three others were killed in the second attack along same highway.
