BEVERLY HILLS, July 28, (THEWILL) – A female suicide bomber Monday bombed a mega fuelling station operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) at Hotoro district along Maiduguri Road, Kano.
The suicide bomber was amongst persons standing in line to buy kerosene at the station when she detonated the wired vest.
Police said the bomber and three others have been confirmed dead, while eight persons wounded are being treated at a local hospital.
The police added that the Mega Station did not go ablaze due to the security barricade put in place by the Policemen on duty at the station. “Such a situation would have clearly complicated the Emergency response,” Frank Mba, the spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force said in a statement, adding that security forces have cordoned off the scene, and Police Bomb Disposal Experts are “sweeping” the area.
The police further advised citizens to stay off the scene and report any suspicious person(s) or activities to security forces.
This is the third attack in Kano in seven days.
