BEVERLY HILLS, July 23, (THEWILL) – President Goodluck Jonathan was magnanimous Wednesday when he welcomed the controversial former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and now Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, to his private residence inside the Presidential Villa despite the well publicized frosty relations between them.
Sanusi was part of a delegation of traditional rulers from northern Nigeria led by Sultan of Sokoto, Dr. Sa’ad Abubakar III that visited the President to break Wednesday’s Ramadan fast.
The President shook Sanusi’s hands and had a brief chat with him during the brief ceremony.
Speaking on behalf of the rulers after the prayers, the Sultan of Sokoto condemned the twin bomb blasts in Kaduna Wednesday that targeted a moderate cleric, Sheik Dahiru Bauchi and former head of state and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), retired General Muhammadu Buhari. Both men were unhurt during the separate attacks which killed at least 70 persons and wounded dozens.
No group has claimed responsibility of the attacks.
