Presidency Chides Atiku, Says Buhari Never Denied Entry Into USA

SAN FRANCISCO, December 02, (THEWILL) – The Presidency has chided former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar over his claim that the United States government had previously banned President Muhammadu Buhari from entering the country just like it did to him.

Atiku had in an interview published weekend said the American government had refused to grant him a visa, saying that’s the reason why he hasn’t been able to travel to that country in almost a decade. He also said Buhari had previously suffered same fate in the past.

THEWILL can however report that a US Senate investigation had indicted Atiku for money laundering and receiving millions of dollars in kickbacks from some foreign companies during his tenure as VP. The funds were allegedly laundered through bank accounts in the US controlled by one of his wives.

Atiku said: “It is the sole prerogative of America to determine who they want in their country or not. I’m not running away from America. I applied, but wasn’t issued a visa. However, they did not decline me categorically either. They’ve only said my application is going through administrative process. This is not peculiar to me. For about 15 years, Buhari could not enter America on account of religious considerations. The current Indian Prime Minister, Modi, suffered the same fate for years. Today, he is being treated to red carpet treatment in America.. I fly to different parts of the world, including Europe, if America wanted me, it would be so easy for them to reach out to their allies…”
