…Aggrieved Members Urged To Close Ranks And Work For Gov. Dickson

BEVERLY HILLS, August 02, (THEWILL) – Ahead of the forthcoming governorship polls in Bayelsa State, a meeting between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Peace Committee for the State was held in Yenagoa, the state capital, weekend, with a call on all aggrieved members and stakeholders in the State to close ranks work for the re-election of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson.

The meeting, which was convened at the instance of former President Goodluck Jonathan, was chaired by Acting Chairman of PDP Board of Trustees, Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed.

The meeting also resolved to rescind the suspension and expulsion placed on some members of PDP, who have despite the internal squabbles within its rank and file, remained in the party, unlike those, who defected to the opposition.

Speaking with journalists in Yenagoa at the end of the meeting, the PDP State Secretary, Mr. Godspower Keku, said the decision was taken in the best interest of the party, especially with a crucial election around the corner.

According to him, the decision to rescind the suspension and expulsion, was taken on the request of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, who is the leader of the party in the State.

He, however, pointed out that, the lifting of the suspension was still subject to the ratification of the State working committee, which is expected to deliberate on it soon.
Keku commended them for keeping faith with the party, despite the pressures to defect, like a number of others, who could not resist the temptation, despite having reaped bountifully from the PDP, since the advent of the present democratic dispensation in 1999.

Some of those affected by the decision include Senators Emmanuel Paulker and Nimi Barigha Amange, Ayakeme Whiskey, Mrs. Marie Ebikake, Hon. Waripamowei Dudafa, Ebikitin Diongoli and Mrs. Remi Kuku, among others.
