BEVERLY HILLS, May 27, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Saturday joined President Donald Trump of the United States and other world leaders for the G7 Summit holding in Italy.
The Nigerian leader, who was on the same row with Trump, sat in between the prime minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, and President Emmanuel Marcon of France.
He had left Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday for the summit and is expected back to Abuja later in the day.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Acting President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, disclosed that his principal attended the summit based on an invitation extended to Osinbajo.
“Acting President Osinbajo invited to ongoing G7 summit in Italy to represent Nigeria, leaves this morning and is expected back later in the evening today,” he wrote on Twitter.
Countries that make up the G7 include: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, United States and the European Union.
Guests invited include Hailemariam Desailegn of Ethiopia, Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, Beji Essebsi of Tunisia and Osinbajo.
The 43rd G7 summit is the first for British Prime Minister Theresa May, French President Macron, Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, and U.S. President Trump.
