BEVERLY HILLS, March 31, (THEWILL) – General Muhammadu Buhari, a former military ruler and candidate of the opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC), has won the Presidential election conducted on Saturday in Nigeria.

His opponent, incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan called him and a leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu to concede defeat and congratulate the candidate and his party.

Buhari won the heated and keenly contested vote by at least 3 million votes.

Jonathan’s gesture and defeat is hugely significant and symbolic, as it has never happened before in Nigeria’s history for a sitting president to be defeated in an election.

“It is a huge victory for the Nigerian voters…,” says Austyn Ogannah, an advocate for good governance and Publisher of THEWILL.
