BEVERLY HILLS, April 25, (THEWILL) – The suspended Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Amb. Ayo Oke, has revealed that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno, knew about the $43.4million recovered at Osborne Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to reports, Oke told members of the Presidential Investigative Committee probing the recovery of cash, led by vice President Yemi Osinbajo, that he wrote a memo to the NSA about the cash which he said was for covert operations.

The committee, which interrogated Oke on Monday began sitting at about 10am and had not called it a day as at 9.37pm as they examined documents and interrogated some top officials of the agency at the marathon session.

Oke was said to have told the committee about the covert operations and projects executed by the agency and gave a spirited defence of his career insisting there was no ill-motive behind the cash.

THEWILL recalls that Oke was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari following the discovery of the Osborne cash by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which Oke declared belonged to the NIA as exclusively reported by THEWILL.

There are indications that the EFCC may have deferred further action on the interrogation of the cash and has stayed action on the invitation of some suspects to avoid duplication of efforts until the presidential Committee is done.
