SAN FRANCISCO, March 24, (THEWILL) – The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure has nullified the impeachment of Alhaji Ali Olanusi as the deputy governor of Ondo State.

THEWILL recalls that Olanusi was impeached on April 27, 2015 by the state House Assembly over anti-party activities while he was away on medical vacation.

Displeased by the action, Olanusi had approached the Akure High Court but failed to upturn the impeachment, a development which prompted him to approach the appellate court.

Justice Muhammed Danjuma of the appeal court, in his ruling on Friday, held that the impeachment did not follow the provisions of the law.

He declared that Olanusi, who is now a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Board of Trustees (BoT), was wrongfully impeached and added that he was not given fair hearing before he was impeached.
