SAN FRANCISCO, April 20, (THEWILL) – Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, on Wednesday declared that nobody will stop the commission from proceeding with the war against corruption.
For two times in a row, President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the Senate to confirm Magu as the substantive EFCC Chairman, but in both occasions, he was rejected by the upper legislative chamber as unfit to be the substantive head of the commission.
Speaking when he received a delegation from Ohaneze and Arewa youth parliaments which presented him a certificate of credence in Abuja, Magu said, “nobody will stop us from fighting corruption.
“I have always emphasised that we do not have the monopoly of knowledge to fight corruption as corruption is a crime against humanity as it affects everybody, so we need to effectively tackle corruption,” he said.
While calling for more support from Nigerians, he insisted that “we must all unite together against the evil called corruption as that is the only way we can ensure, at least the protection of the future of our children and our younger ones”.
The EFCC boss assured that the agency is strongly resolved to confront corruption so as to ensure a better Nigeria for the citizenry.
