Nigerians Sell Ideas To Mr President In Aso Villa Demo Day

SAN FRANCISCO, June 23, (THEWILL) – Over 200 Nigerian entrepreneurs in Lagos, on Thursday, presented various ideas in The Picth event of the Aso Villa Demo Day, in order to solve, cultivate and deploy solutions to pressing problems facing citizens and cities across the country.

The event, a brain child of the Presidency, is the first part of a series of events aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and fostering job creation and economic growth through the use of new and emerging technologies.

“Entrepreneurial innovation has a vital role to play in tackling Nigeria’s toughest rural and urban challenges. This event unlocks unprecedented opportunities for entrepreneurs and start-ups to collaborate with the government to solve, cultivate and deploy solutions to pressing problems facing the country,” the Presidency declared.

“We are here to celebrate and support the best in the fields of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship with a focus on economic diversification and inclusive enterprise.”

From agricultural solutions to ideas for power generation, health care and ICT applications, the participants were enthusiastic as they tried to impress the panellist who would select 50 participants for the next stage to present their ideas to President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and an audience of venture capitalists at the State House, Aso Rock, Abuja.

One of the participants, Rufus Oyemade, a Web Developer with Cregital, could not hide his excitement as he spoke to THEWILL.

“We are here to take the opportunity. We have operated Cregital for one year and two months with immense success. Our web applications and solutions are vital for economic development across various sectors of the economy.”

One of the panellists, Uzoma Dozie, Managing Director, Diamond Bank, declared that the best resource Nigeria has are the people adding that he was impressed with the ideas presented.

He declared that an idea needs support and an enabling environment which was what prompted the bank to support and sponsor the event.
