SAN FRANCISCO, October 14, (THEWILL) – Former military Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, Wednesday formally declared his intention to seek the Presidency in the 2015 general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Buhari, who addressed thousands of supporters who graced the declaration event at the Eagle Square Abuja from various parts of the country, said his candidacy and the APC will rescue the country from the PDP led federal government which he accused of encouraging corruption, bad governance and inability to protect Nigerians from terror.

“I … present myself before you and before God seeking to be elected as APC’s Presidential candidate

“Nigeria has never been so polarized by a sinking government. We in APC have resolved to stop them in their track… The rest of the world look at Nigeria as a home of corruption, where stealing is not regarded as corruption,” Buhari, a Muslim from northern Nigeria said.

Prominent members of the party that attended Buhari’s declaration are leaders Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and Tanko Al Makura of Nasarawa State amongst others.

Buhari, who in the 2011 general elections was the Presidential candidate of the CPC, one of the opposition parties that formed the ACP, lost that election to incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan. If he secures the APC ticket over main challengers – former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, he is likely to square up against President Goodluck Jonathan, a Christian from southern Nigeria, who is expected to seek reelection.
