SAN FRANCISCO, June 28, (THEWILL) – One of the resurgent militant groups, Niger Delta Sea Commandos, NDSC, on Monday insisted that they are not funded by politicians.

The group’s spokesperson, Osama Blatter, stressed in a statement that the group was not a terrorist organisation but was only agitating for the emancipation of the Niger Delta region.

The group was responding to claims by Northern politician, Dr Junaid Mohammed, who advised President Muhammadu Buhari to treat Niger Delta militants as terrorists.

According to him, “We commend Junaid for remembering that Boko Haram is a terrorist group, but we want to unequivocally tell the ethnic bigot that we are just agitators and not terrorists. Our activities and Boko Haram cannot be compared.

“We are not deterred by the call by Junaid Mohammed because such calls will only facilitate the crumbling of Nigeria, which is what we are after. Junaid should be informed that we never begged to be appeased by Hausa/Fulani President, Muhammadu Buhari.

“We are only fighting to leave Nigeria, which has enslaved and exploited us for too long. We are not sponsored by any politician, but it a civic duty required of us to liberate us people from slavery.”
