BEVERLY HILLS, April 23, (THEWILL) – Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been crowned the 2017/18 PFA player of the year after the spectacular season he’s had with the reds.

THEWILL recalls that Liverpool bought the Egyptian forward from AS Roma for £34.3million last summer and he was voted as the division’s best player in November, February and March.

For the player of the year award, he saw off tough competition from Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne to get the gong at Grosvenor House in central London on Sunday.

Both players have been the standout players of the English Premier League (EPL) this season.

However, Salah has consistently put in exceptional performances and scored crucial goals for Liverpool in a season when he became the first player in EPL history to win the player of the month award thrice during a term.

He also joined Roger Hunt and Ian Rush as the only Liverpool players to have scored 40 times in a single season when he headed home against Bournemouth at Anfield earlier this month.

Salah’s goal against Bournemouth ensured the Egyptian achieved another milestone by becoming the first African player to score 30 times in one EPL campaign.
