BEVERLY HILLS, April 18, (THEWILL) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the attack and seizure of the mace in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
THEWILL recalls that an APC Senator from Delta state, Omo-Agege, reportedly led hoodlums to the National Assembly, in protest of his suspension by the Senate, leading to the seizure of the mace.
Reacting to the incident, the party in a statement by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, its National Publicity Secretary, declared that the perpetrators must be brought to book.
“The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to the invasion of the Nigerian Senate by suspected thugs who disrupted Wednesday’s plenary and made away with the mace,” the statement read.
“The APC hereby condemns this action and views it as an attack on our democracy and a desecration of the hallowed institution of the National Assembly.
“We therefore call on security agencies to take all necessary actions to recover the stolen mace and ensure that the perpetrators and their sponsors are brought to justice.”
