SAN FRANCISCO, September 13, (THEWILL) – The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Jummai Alhassan, is presently attending the meeting of the Federal Executive Council, after she walked in by 10:45am to a warm reception from some members of the cabinet.

The meeting, which as at press time is going on at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, is being presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The minister had caused a stir last week when she declared in an interview with the Hausa Service of the BBC, that she would rather support the presidential ambition of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, instead of Buhari for the 2019 election.

Following that public endorsement of Atiku, the All Progressives Congress, APC, called for the sack of the minister, fondly called Mama Taraba, even as Governor Nasir El-Rufai, of Kaduna state disclosed that Buhari was advised against appointing her as minister.

Before entering the Council Chambers, she went to exchange pleasantries with the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi, who was with Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, and the State House Permanent Secretary, Jalil Arabi.

On getting into the chambers, Alhassan went round to greet some of her colleagues, including the Minister of state for Health, Minister of state for Budget and National Planning, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Finance, and Acting Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

She later went to meet with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo when he walked in and spent a few minutes discussing with him before Buhari walked in at 11am.
