I Was Not ‘Barred’ From VIP Stand At PDP Convention – Olisa Metuh

BEVERLY HILLS, December 10, (THEWILL) – Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, has dismissed reports that he was barred from accessing the VIP stand during the party’s National Convention on Saturday.

In a statement by his media aide, Richard Ihediwa, Metuh described reports claiming he was barred as false, stressing that there was no reason for such stressing that he was the leader of Anambra State delegates to the convention.

He explained that while liaising between dignitaries at the VIP stand and delegates from his state, his entourage had a mild altercation with some security operatives but insisted that the matter was immediately settled.

“Our attention has been drawn to misleading reports being sponsored in certain online media suggesting that the former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh was barred from accessing the VIP stand at the party’s national convention in Abuja,” the statement read.

“This is completely false as the former publicity secretary, who is leader of Anambra State delegates to the convention was never barred from the VIP stand as there was no reason for such.

“What happened was that Chief Metuh, who arrived the convention ground at about 8 o’clock in the morning sat in his designated seat on Anambra state stand but had to go to the VIP stand on several occasions to liaise with other party leaders on some issues.

“It was on one of those occasions that a member of Chief Metuh’s entourage had a mild altercation with some security operatives, a matter which was immediately settled.

“It is therefore completely untrue that Chief Metuh was barred from the VIP stand or manhandled by security operatives at the convention as he had no issues whatsoever with them.

“In fact, after the mild incident, Chief Metuh went to the VIP stand several times over in the course of his assignment as leader of Anambra delegates.

“It is also inconceivable that a highly respected PDP leader of Chief Metuh’s status and standing and who had aspirants and other party stakeholders coming to the Anambra stand to pay homage to him, will be manhandled by anybody at the party’s event.

“We therefore urge those behind the report to note that the social media must not be used to spread falsehood and fabricate misleading and sensational stories to the unsuspecting public.

“Such is totally uncalled for.”
