BEVERLY HILLS, July 04, (THEWILL) – A member of the House of Representatives from Sokoto State, Hon. Abdullahi Wamakko, is dead.
Wamakko passed on in Abuja on Friday after a brief illness. He was 50 years old and was last seen at the National Assembly on Monday.
The death of Wamakko has been confirmed by the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Abdulrazak Namdas.
“A member from Sokoto State, Aliyu Shagari, actually broke the news to some of us today,” Namdas said.
“We are meeting on the review of the 1999 Constitution. We have already observed a one-minute silence in his honour.
“Our hearts go out to his family and we also pray for him to have peaceful rest.”
THEWILL gathered that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; and the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, were among mourners who flew in a chartered aircraft with the corpse from Abuja to Sokoto on Friday.
Wamakko is to be buried on Friday according to Islamic rites.
