BEVERLY HILLS, October 26, (THEWILL) – The sum of N1.5 million, belonging to the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), was reported snatched at gunpoint in Warri on Wednesday by a gang of suspected armed robbers.

THEWILL gathered that three employees of the broadcasting service were said to be returning from a new generation bank to the Warri transmission base of the DBS when they were cornered around Energy Road, Ogunu, by the gang of camouflage cap-wearing armed men, who demanded the cash they were carrying.

Although, the original sum of N1.9 million was withdrawn from the bank, meant to be for the payment of salaries of casual employees and security guards, the officials, driving a Hyundai Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) belonging to one of them, managed to hide some of the money away from the hoodlums.

The incident was confirmed by Tunde Omonode, General Manager of the station, who revealed that the incident has been reported to the police.

“We heard it like that. They came to the office and gave the report. We reported to the police who called for them to give their statement. The matter is now down with the police who said we will hear from them shortly,” he said.

However, the acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, said he was not aware of the attack.
