BEVERLY HILLS, July 18, (THEWILL) – Two policemen have been killed after gunmen attacked them while on patrol along the Birnin-Gwari – Funtua Road in Kaduna State.
This comes weeks after seven officers were killed in Abuja and days after four others were killed in Edo state.
The Spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mukhtar Aliyu, confirmed this recent attack.
According to him, the police patrol team was ambushed on Monday night and the two officers were killed after an intense gun battle at Tabanni village in Birnin Gwari.
Two of the gunmen were also killed and one AK 47 rifle was recovered from them.
Aggrieved by the death of their colleagues, other police officers who conveyed the corpses to the state police command on Tuesday morning, were seen shooting sporadically into the air.
Unfortunately, according to Aliyu, a woman was accidentally killed in the process.
