BEVERLY HILLS, July 19, (THEWILL) – Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie, a former Inspector General of Police and until his demise Thursday, the Chairman, Arewa Consultative Forum has died at the Orthopedic Hospital in Katsina, after suddenly falling sick.
His brother, Dahiru confirmed his demise to the media saying he passed on Thursday evening at 76 years old.
The former top cop, turbaned the Sardauna Katsina of Emir of Katsina and Garkuwan Hausa of Emir of Daura, left behind his wife, six children and many grand children.
His brother said he would be buried immediately according to Islamic rites after the Jumaat prayers at the Bani Coomassie Mosque in GRA.
Ibrahim Coomassie, a Katsina native, served as Nigeria’s 9th IGP from 1993-1999 during the draconian reign of military dictator, General Sani Abacha. He was succeeded by Musiliu Smith and preceded by Alhaji Aliyu Attah.
