BEVERLY HILLS, July 18, (THEWILL) – The Federal Fire Service, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) have certified the use of F-500 Encapsulator Agent for effective and efficient firefighting in Nigeria.

The certification was sequel to the series of tests conducted on the product by various ministries, agencies and departments of government during which the product’s efficacy and environmental friendliness were confirmed.

A statement from the Federal Fire Service read: “This is to certify that F-500 Encapsulator (Agent) has been tested and found environmentally safe and compliant with the product specification. It is hereby registered for marketing in the Federal Republic of Nigeria with effect from 31st day of October, 2016.”

Already, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Nigerian Navy, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), the Ministry of Interior and the Dangote group, amongst other private sector players and multi-national oil companies, are reportedly partnering Okama Infinity Nigeria Limited, the sole distributor of the product in Nigeria, on its massive deployment in their facilities to combat any fire outbreak.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Okama Infinity Nigeria Limited, Engineer Oghenekaro Jockey, said the product, manufactured by Hazard Control Technologies (HCT) Incorporated in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America, had secured the buy-in of major stakeholders in the country.

“We have had talks with almost every stakeholder in Nigeria as far as firefighting is concerned and I can assure you that by the time everyone knows about the power and effectiveness of F-500 Encapsulator Agent and begins to use it, the story of firefighting in the country will enter into a new phase,” Jockey stated.

“The wrenches caused by preventable losses of invaluable lives and property worth several billions of naira will be things of past in Nigeria. Having this firefighting technology in every home, establishment, institution, vehicle in Nigeria will help to save lives and property especially amid the current economic recession.”

Jockey disclosed that in a bid to facilitate usage of the F-500 Encapsulator Agent (EA) technology, some officials of the Federal Fore Service, Federal Ministry of Interior and FRSC were taken to the United States of America for training on and demonstration of the usage and effectiveness of the technology before we got the approval for distribution.”

He lamented the fire incidents in Calabar and Ibadan at the weekend, which claimed many lives and property, stressing that the stories would have been different if the F-500 EA had been deployed for putting out the fire.

According to him, “F-500 EA is a revolutionary innovation in firefighting. It is a fire suppressant agent that works effectively to knockdown fire in the shortest possible time, sometimes in a matter of seconds depending on the volume of fire.

“It is a product in a class by itself because it is currently the only fire suppressant agent that can encapsulate hydrocarbon vapours rendering them non-flammable and non-ignitable.

“Besides, it is the only agent that can be used on different classes of fire effectively. It has been tested, used and proven time and again to always deliver the best results

“F-500 Encapsulator Agent’s engineered advantage is based on the high performance, three-dimensional firefighting capabilities of micelle encapsulation.

“It has three unique features that make it superior to other agents, to wit: the ability to rapidly cool down the temperature of a fire in seconds thereby providing permanent burn-back resistance; the ability to encapsulate the hydrocarbon molecules rendering them non-flammable and non-ignitable; and, the ability to interrupt the free radical coalescence thereby inhibiting the formation of toxic soot and smoke.”

Speaking on the economy of the F-500 EA, Jockey stated that the product has a shelf life of 25 years, which “makes it the most cost-effective firefighting product in the Nigerian market.”
