FG Approves N2bn For Maritime University In Delta State

SAN FRANCISCO, September 12, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has approved the release of N2 billion for the take-off of the Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta State.

This was revealed on Tuesday by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, in Ondo State, while presiding over the 2nd National Council on the Niger Delta, as well as hold Niger Delta New Vision (#NDNewVision) engagements.

THEWILL recalls that approval for the University had been stalled following allegations of corrupt practices over the purchase of land for the institution.

However, leaders from the Niger-Delta insisted on the continuation of the University as they negotiated for peace in the region.

Present at the meeting where the approval was announced include; Ondo state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu; the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Usani; the Minister of State, Niger Delta Affairs, Prof Claudius Daramola, and Sen. Victor Udoma, Chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission.
