Emefiele, Adeosun Receive Visiting IMF Managing Director, Lagarde In Abuja

SAN FRANCISCO, January 04, (THEWILL) – Central Bank Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Finance Minister, Ms. Kemi Adeosun, Monday received Ms. Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who is visiting Nigeria to engage with policy makers and other stakeholders.

The Nigerian officials were accompanied to the airport by other top officials.

THEWILL gathered that Lagarde is scheduled to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari, the leadership of the National Assembly, senior government officials as well as business leaders, prominent women and representatives of the civil society.

Ms. Lagarde is scheduled to depart for Cameroun at the end of her Nigerian visit. Her office said her trip to the two West African countries would end on January 09, 2016.

“I look forward to productive meetings with President Buhari and his colleagues as they address important economic challenges, most importantly the impact of low oil prices,” Ms. Lagarde said ahead of her trip.

“Nigeria is working hard to improve its business environment, promote opportunities for growth in the private sector, and strengthen social cohesion, all areas where the government has an important role to play.”
