SAN FRANCISCO, May 23, (THEWILL) – Justice Gabriel Kolawole of an Abuja Federal High Court has adjourned hearing on the case of infringement of fundamental human rights of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
The case was adjourned to Tuesday, June 14, 2016, for mentioning when the registrar informed the court that the respondents, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police were absent.
In the suit filed by him, El-Zakzaky is seeking an order of the court restraining the respondents from further violating his right in any manner with N2 billion as general and aggravated damages for the illegal violation of his rights.
The application is also praying for immediate and unconditional release of El-Zakzaky who had been detained following a clash with some of his followers and the convoy of the chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai in Zaria, Kaduna State, on December 5, 2015.
