SAN FRANCISCO, April 13, (THEWILL) – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has lost its bid to seize the funds in 15 bank accounts linked to Patience Jonathan, wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
This was contained in a judgement delivered by the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday.
The EFCC had filed an ex parte application seeking to seize the funds, totalling $8.4 million and over N7.35 billion, but the court rejected the commission’s bid to seize the funds.
Justice Mojisola Olatoregun, the presiding judge, rejected the ex parte application filed by the EFCC for the seizure of the funds.
She held that the bank accounts in question were already involved in a litigation process before two other courts.
