Following the outcome of Wednesday’s governorship election in Edo State, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has urged the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to accept the verdict of the Edo people in good faith.

In a statement issued on Thursday night in Abuja, Oyegun congratulated his party’s candidate and running mate on their election victory, noting that “The people of Edo state voted to ensure continuity and consolidation of the massive multi-faceted developments recorded under the administration of Governor Adams Oshiomhole.”

The Peoples Democratic Party had rejected the results of the electioneven before the official announcement of the outcome, basing the rejection on an allegation that the results were “fabricated and a pre-determined” by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the Edo State government.

It would be recalled that during the collation of results, it came to the fore that Oyegun had lost his polling unit to the PDP, as the opposition party’s candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu won the ballot there.
