SAN FRANCISCO, August 11, (THEWILL) – The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Godwin Erhahon, has been removed by the State Executive Committee (SEC).

Erhahon’s removal was announced following a vote of no confidence passed on him at a meeting of the SEC.

Erhahon had been suspended last year for issuing unauthorized statements which was said to have caused embarrassment to the party.

State Secretary of the APC, Lawrence Okah, who confirmed the removal of Erhahon, stated that Chris Azebamwen, another APC leader from Orhiomwon Local Government Area has been appointed as the new spokesman for the party.

He added that the party also upheld the reversal of the suspension orders earlier placed on some party members in Uhumnwonde Local Government.

“Consequent upon the mediation of the disciplinary Committee of the party, the suspension orders on some party leaders in Esan North East, Esan South East and Esan Central, were reversed after apologies were tendered by the erring leaders, who have now resolved to work together with other stakeholders of the party,” Okay stated.

Reacting to his removal, Erhahon said he was not surprised by the decision of the State Executive Committee.

“All my entitlement in the party has been withheld since July last year,” he said.

“This month made it the 14th month, the three months suspension was supposed to end in March but it lingered tillThursday, so it did not come to me as surprise.

“I use to think that the immediate past governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was behind it but I have seen he has no hand in it. He is against it and he is still against it.

“The implication is that the merger between the CPC and the APC in the state has been completely wiped out.”
