June 19, (THEWILL)- The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has appointed the Chief of Staff to Akwa Ibom State’s Governor Udom Emmanuel, Mr. Ephraim Inyangeyen, as its Brand Ambassador.
The conferment was made on Friday when the leadership of the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the NMA, led by its President, Dr. Ime Sylvester Udoh, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Staff in his office.
Ime said the honour was conferred on Inyangeyen in recognition of “his special interest in the growth and development ,of the health sector” as well as his outstanding overall stewardship to the government and [eople of Akwa Ibom State.
He thanked Inyangeyen for his selfless contributions and described him as a dependable partner, especially as he clearly demonstrated during the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic as a member of the Akwa Ibom Task Force on COVID-19.
“Your unparalleled commitment to the fight against COVID-19 cannot be put to question. This is even more so considering the short period during which you delivered, by way of your assignment, from His Excellency, the Infectious Diseases and Treatment Centre, Ituk Mbang. We say thank you,” Udo said.
The branch Chairman disclosed that part of the reasons for the courtesy visit was to officially introduce the leadership of NMA in Akwa Ibom State to him and seek stronger partnership as well as intimate him of other developments and NMA’s unanimous decision to appoint him a Brand Ambassador.
He mentioned that Akwa Ibom State had also been chosen to host the 2021 National Physicians’ Week slated for October 2021.
“It is our intention, this afternoon, to confer on you, the Honorary Titular position of the NMA BRAND AMBASSADOR for the National Physicians Week 2021,” he stressed.
Responding to the gesture, Inyangeyen said he was encouraged that the little contributions he made in the course of duties assigned him by His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, were being noticed.
He stated that he was always willing to serve as a faithful steward; but all credits for developments in the health sector, like in every other sectors of the state’s economy, should go to the Governor for his vision, pro-activeness and genuine love for Akwa Ibom State and the people.
A promo of events made available to THEWILL and endorsed by the NMA president showed that the National Physicians Week will have former President Goodluck Jonathan as Keynote Speaker, and Governor Udom Emmanuel as Chief Host.
